Receptionist | Environmental Advocate | Animal Care Enthusiast

A Fort Wayne native, Sharon has always been deeply connected to nature and animals. Her passion for environmental conservation began in high school through the Ecology Club at Northrop High School, which set her on a path toward becoming a Naturalist. She worked at Lindenwood Park and LaGrange County Parks, and volunteered at Fox Island County Park for many years—experiences that further fueled her love for the natural world. Associated with her park experience, Sharon became a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.

In the 1980s, Sharon shifted gears into the veterinary field, working at the Emergency Animal Clinic, and later at East State Veterinary Clinic and Veterinary Services. Today, as a part-time receptionist at Pine Valley Veterinary Clinic, she enjoys connecting with clients and their pets, building lasting relationships that reflect her lifelong dedication to animal care.
Sharon's career with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) began in 1992 as a Stormwater Specialist. She contributed to projects throughout the state, including in Allen County, southern Indiana, Indianapolis, and Chesterton. Even after retiring, Sharon remains actively involved in conservation and animal rescue. |
In addition to her environmental and veterinary work, Sharon worked with deaf children in the Fort Wayne Schools system, where she learned sign language. This experience has allowed her to communicate effectively with the deaf children and support their needs.
Outside of work, Sharon leads an active lifestyle—hiking, kayaking, camping, biking, gardening, and traveling. She also volunteers with Soarin' Hawk on the Rescue and Release Teams. A proud mother of two—Stephanie and Preston—and partner to Brian Grubb, Sharon shares her home with two cats, Sam and Jack. |
