Our Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Senior Wellness: Knowing that our pets age at a much faster rate than we do, it is vital to their health that they are seen for an examination every 6 months. Signs of "old age" may be underlying problems that if undiagnosed could lead serious health issues. Our senior wellness packages include a full physical exam, comprehensive bloodwork, and urinalysis. Depending on the plan you and the doctor decide other options such as radiographs, intraocular pressure testing or thyroid testing might be included.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We offer most elective, some orthopedic, and many selected general soft tissue surgical procedures. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are tailored to your pet.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures via oscillometric blood pressure readings, pulse oximetry, an apnea alert machine, and cardiac oscilloscope.
Ultrasounds: We offer in-hospital ultrasounds specalizing in abdominal exams and echocardiograms (ultrasound exams of the heart and great vessels). This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. We commonly use an ultrasound probe to guide fine needle aspirates for evaluation of urine samples and tumor cell-types.
The slow learning curve to develop expertise in use of the equipment has meant that not all veterinary practices have chosen to offer ultrasound services. As an example of necessary time investment, since June of 2000, Dr. Graham has spent between 30-40 hours yearly attending lectures and wet-labs offered in cities such as Atlanta, Cincinnati, Seattle, San Diego, Las Vegas, Bedford Hills, NY, Kansas City, Mo., San Antonio, Knoxville, TN, and Indianapolis to enhance his skills in diagnostic ultrasound techniques. He has continued to expand his education in this area by continually attending lectures and labs.
The doctors all plan to continue to develop their capabilities to utilize this powerful diagnostic aid for the treatment of our patients.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. They help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations.
Dentistry: Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, digital dental X-rays, surgical tooth extractions via a high speed handpiece unit and oral surgery. We use a modern and safe ultrasonic cleaner to clean each tooth thoroughly-above and below the gum line. Dental assistants polish each tooth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. We also offer a full line of toothbrushes, pastes, washes and treats for your at home care needs.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, CBC hematology, serology, urinalysis, endo and ecto parasite testing. In house lab testing allows us to quickly screen and/or test your pet, often while you wait, allowing more rapid decision making when prudent. Canine and feline heartworm, Giardia, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Parvovirus, Feline leukemia and FIV testing are all performed via in house screening. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations. A daily courier collects samples for our most heavily used laboratory. Once the lab results are complete , they are automatically inserted into the patients computer file via the internet.
Permanent identification "microchipping": Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. The microchip is inserted under the skin in a similar fashion as a vaccination and can be done at any time. We offer microchip identification using HomeAgain microchips.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. When available and economically viable, human pharmacies are utilized for some needed products.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. Beginning in May 2009 we offer evening puppy socialization classes led by our animal behavior technician, Melissa Moore, RVT
Euthanasia Services: Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client.
Emergency Care: Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies.
